Andy Foley

Andy Foley is Head of the United Risk Partners Healthcare Division. He started in healthcare over 40 years ago, and has worked at some of the most prestigious hospitals in the world. Moving from a clinical environment in the 90’s, Andy was part of a team that launched, marketed and sold the Birmingham hip resurfacing device to the top orthopaedic surgeons around the world. This start up company was eventually sold to Smith and Nephew. Before Andy moved into insurance at the start of 2010, he was on the board of Finsbury orthopaedics and a key player in negotiating the sale of the company to global Health care giants, Johnson and Johnson.

At the start of 2010, clinicians were looking to move away from the traditional providers of discretionary cover and they started exploring commercial insurance. Andy was one of the first brokers in this space, and his in-depth subject knowledge allowed him to become one of the most well known and respected brokers in London and the rest of UK.

This resulted in Andy delivering key lectures at the British Medical association and the British Orthopaedic association annual congress.

Having sold his business to a large multinational broker, Andy ran the retail insurance healthcare offering for that broker until June 2022.

At URP, Andy and his team are able to provide advice and source insurance cover on the following:

  • Individual clinician medical malpractice insurance/regulatory and disciplinary cover
  • Corporate medical malpractice insurance.
  • Tele E health medical malpractice insurance.
  • Medical device product libility.
